This past weekend Louis the Child headlined their genre defying Alter Ego concept show at the Brooklyn Mirage. This was one of the most unique shows to ever take place, where the night was all about exploration and creativity. The duo consisting of Robby Hauldren and Frederic J. Kennett played two unique sets and also debuted their new mixtape.
The show also had phenomenal support from artists such as DROELOE, Win & Woo, SNBRN, Pluko, Chet Porter, and many more. They all played sets that were considered “left field’ and something not in their comfort zone. Some of the genres included disco, hard rock, drum & bass, and house.
Starting off the night, LTC played a special playground set which is what it sounds like. The duo freestyled and played whatever they want, feeding off the energy/vibe of the crowd. If you’ve listened to their radio show, they’ve done a few of these sets. They recently also performed a similar set at Electric Forest.
When the show set times were announced, there was a ???????? slated to perform at 11:30pm over at the Great Hall. The room quickly filled up as fans were excited to see who the mystery artist was, and everyone was in for a treat. It was none other than LTC, debuting their new techno project called Black Marble. It was a very interesting and unique experience for sure, as it wasn’t a live performance but rather a mixtape. The duo watched the set from the back as retro black and white visuals were displayed on screen. The whole set had no vocals but it didn’t need it as techno heavy basslines and riffs slapped throughout the venue. The whole crowd was enjoying every moment, as each beat rattled away. I personally enjoyed every moment and am excited for what else is in store for this project.
And now on to the main headlining performance of the night which was LTC’s throwback set. This was their first ever throwback set which any long time or new fans would appreciate. The duo’s discography is so expansive that they had a lot of tracks to work with. The crowd sang along through all their tracks as they played songs from Candy, Here For Now, and Euphoria. The set ended a little after 3 am with ‘Better Not’ which has over 200m+ streams on Spotify. Their Alter Ego show was truly magical, as all 10 acts performed something different.
