It seems Spring Awakening is keeping its gates shut this year, and it has nothing to do with COVID-19. Despite a new era of festival possibilities, organizers are announcing the cancelation of the Chicago 2022 event due to lineup deliverability.
According to a statement leaked by FestiveOwl, organizers are postponing Spring Awakening 2023, as this year’s lineup does not encompass what fans ”expect and deserve.”
“SAMF has a rich history of celebrating and
showcasing performances by some of the best
established and emerging EDM talent. Each
year, we strive to deliver a festival experience
that embodies our fan’s passion, enthusiasm and
love of music.”
Instead of delivering a lineup that would “disappoint” festival-goers, organizers have decided to put more time into creating a better festival experience for 2023. Therefore, fans will not be dancing under the Chicago electric sky anytime soon. This comes when music festival competition is red hot in Chicago this summer. ARC Music Festival and North Coast both feature impressive lineups, and it’s easy to see how Spring Awakening was left with very few options. Can the market sustain all three?
Those who purchased a ticket for the 2022 event will have their passes honored for next year’s festival. In addition, ravers with benefits will either remain at their current status or will be upgraded.
Stay tuned for updates on Spring Awakening.
