Billboard recently unveiled their Music Awards finalists for this year. The winners are going to be announced live on NBC on Sunday, May 15th. The show will emanate from its usual home, the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, for the first time since 2019. Let’s take a look at some of the nominees in dance music.
In the Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Artist category, the list boasts familiar names. In fact, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Marshmello, Tiësto, and Lady Gaga are the nominees. Those artists all had pretty big years, and they are already well-known in the industry. As for Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Album, the names are less part of the mainstream, which is very cool to see. The nominees are C418 (Minecraft – Volume Alpha), FKA twigs (Caprisongs), ILLENIUM (Fallen Embers), Porter Robinson (Nurture), and Rüfüs Du Sol (Surrender).
Obviously, we cannot write this article without looking at Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Song nominees. The nominees are Elton John & Dua Lipa with “Cold Heart – PNAU Remix”, Farruko with “Pepas”, Regard x Troye Sivan x Tate McRae with “You”, Tiësto with “The Business”, and Travis Scott & HVME with “Goosebumps”. Surely, many of you will find this list pretty conservative: we do too. However, Billboard Music Awards finalists and winners are based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay, and social engagement, tracked by Billboard and its data partners.
The Billboard Music Awards will broadcast live coast-to-coast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 15 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC. It will also stream live on Peacock. Click here for the full list.
