Google has launched its new “Music, Makers & Machines” exhibit, celebrating the genre of electronic music. It is hosted by Google Arts & Culture platform and is available on desktop, Apple, and Google Play. It is a collaborative effort of more than 50 international institutions dedicated to electronic music.
The exhibition explores the history of electronic music, its pioneers and legends, and takes a closer look at club culture. Google released a video highlighting some of its features – check it out below:
It will also feature playable augmented reality to allow for 3-dimensional views of classic synths and other DJ equipment. This AR will also allow for studio and club tours that involve electronic music. There is even a lesson plan available for teachers and students.
It is nice to see that we are far enough along in this genre that we are beginning to see a nod to those that helped create it, those that blazed the trail so we could bang heads in sweaty warehouses, or get loose to some vibrant lights and low frequencies. Keep on dancing.
