Festival giant Electric Daisy Carnival just announced that its first Portugal-based edition will no longer be taking place. Instead, organizers will be holding a Secret Project Festival. The techno and underground festival is also held by Insomniac events, the giant behind EDC festivals around the world.
The newly announced festival will also be taking place in Portugal and on the same date. Meaning that organizers chose to hold a Secret Project Festival instead of the first European EDC. In their official statement, EDC Portugal explains this decision by not being able to deliver a full EDC experience. Thus, and due to logistical reasons, the event will be taking another direction. Perhaps it would not be possible to ship the stages from Las Vegas to Portugal in time.
Due to logistics unique to EDC, we have determined that we will not be able to fully deliver an EDC experience this June.

Many fans showed disappointment on socials due to the lineup change. In that regard, all current ticket holders will receive an email by January 28 to receive a refund or choose to have their ticket automatically transferred to Secret Project Portugal.
However, if you’re a house fan, this news is great for you. The event will be gathering 90 world-class names around 3 stages. Amazing acts are in preparation by Adam Beyer, Artbat, Anna, Charlotte de Witte, Cirez D, Tale Of Us, Joris Voorn, Kölsch, Eric Prydz, and many more.
Secret Project Festival will take place on the same dates, June 17-19, 2022, at the same beachside venue previously expected for EDC, Praia Da Rocha. More info here.
