New York City’s Electric Zoo festival will go on as scheduled this Labor Day Weekend. In a tweet, festival organizers praised the cities infrastructure and drainage systems as the key factor in EZoo’s green light. This is a much more positive outcome than the Bonnaroo cancellation which buckled under the plight of Hurricane Ida.
Weather.com predicts less than a five percent chance of rain for Friday and Saturday, under 25% for Sunday. A dreamy mid-seventies temperature means this will be pleasant weather this weekend…although the grounds may be a bit muddy.
Electric Zoo is an urban festival that takes place every labor day weekend. It is located on Randall’s Island: smack dab in the middle of Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx, in the middle of the East River. Given the unpredictable weather of a New York September, it is common to experience heat waves, lightning storms, and, in this case, Hurricanes.
The Good News
Electric Zoo is unveiling a brand new stage system called ‘The Hive’ for 2021. It will be complete with an expanded dance floor, over a thousand LED panels, and built-in Pyrotechnics. See the teaser here.
The Festival lineup will include Alesso, Seven Lions, Kaskade, Rezz, Tiesto, and Steve Aoki on the main stage, with Zeds Dead, Claptone, Shiba San, Duke Dumont, and Dom Dolla (among others) rounding out the alternative stages.
In regards to Covid, there is no mention of vaccine, negative test, or mask requirements for Electric Zoo. However, they do have a refund policy, where if you have proof of positive test in the 14-day isolation window and submit it by September 5th, you are eligible for a full refund.
