All of this back and forth over EDCLV’s 2021 date is giving us a bit of whiplash – but now, it looks like we have a final answer. Pasquale Rotella, the founder of Insomniac, has announced that the 2021 edition of Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas will be postponed to October, taking place on the 22nd – 24th. A couple of weeks ago, after a wild day on social media, the festival came out confidently that the event was a go for the proposed dates of May 21-23rd. Much of the internet was skeptical about this decision to host one of the biggest festivals in the world so quickly, seeing as the pandemic is not completely over.
In his statement, Rotella begins by thanking all those behind the scenes, the Speedway, government officials, and more for their patience and understanding of the complications that arose because of the effects of the pandemic. He then cites that the reason for the change is due to a recent update by Clark County. The latest approved plan cites that 60% of the residents of the county must be vaccinated before large gatherings are allowed. This includes EDCLV, and the county currently is not up to that measurement. It’s unfortunate that this is happening, but hopefully everything will fall into place soon!
