Who are they? Well, you probably didn’t know until now.
In the book Long Relationships: My Incredible Journey From Unknown DJ to Small-time DJ written by DJ mag regular Harold Heath released by Velocity Press he explores the less glamourous side of being a job to job DJ. He focuses on stories of the other 99% of DJs who don’t share the limelight with the names we so recognize as pioneers, entertainers, and icons.
Heath says, “Most of us didn’t reach the top level of private jets, an Ibiza residency, and all the vinyl we could eat but had truly joyful experiences nonetheless, experiences that often changed our lives for the better. I wanted to document and celebrate the untold story of the unsung local DJ; hopefully, this book has achieved that.”
For most of the DJs out there, making a name may never come. It’s a somber realization for most but this book could also show how gratifying it is to just do what you love and love what you do.
