Samsung’s Galaxy Note is notably one of the most popular smartphones in the past several years. Since its release in 2011, users have enjoyed its large screen, S Pen stylus, and premium exterior design. Unfortunately, the Galaxy Note has a steep price that swayed consumers towards competitors like Apple and Google. The COVID-19 pandemic this year also took a toll on Galaxy Note sales as people wanted to avoid spending over $1,000 on a smartphone.
Sources now reveal that Samsung may discontinue the Galaxy Note altogether. These sources claim that Samsung does not have plans to create an updated version of the Galaxy Note for 2021. It’s not clear how accurate these sources are as they want to remain anonymous.
While the Galaxy Note may be retired, Samsung has something a bit different in mind for 2021. The tech company is supposedly working on their foldable smartphone technology. In the past few years, we’ve seen more and more foldable smartphones entering the market. The Motorola Razr, Galaxy Z Flip, and Mircosoft Surface Duo have all seen their ups and downs with consumers.
If Samsung is focusing more on foldable devices, they need to ensure that the quality and pricing is balanced. Currently, most of the foldable smartphones are expensive and limited in what they provide. Additionally, many consumers are not into the folding screen and want to stick with a single flat display.
Nonetheless, it will be exciting to see what new technology and features Samsung can create with a brand new device. Samsung has declined to comment on the possible Galaxy Note abandonment.
