Netflix and Galantis are partnering up. How? Hosting a virtual rite of passage with ‘The Prom: Tonight Belongs To You‘ stream. The digital affair takes place this Friday, December 19th at 8:00 PM EST / 5:00 PM PST on Netflix’s YouTube Channel. Fab Five icon, Jonathan Van Ness is hosting the party, so it should be good times, good vibes.
About the Event
This is Ryan Murphy’s new Netflix-hosted flick. The ‘Glee’ and ‘American Horror Story’ producer invited Janelle Monae to also perform. For those that don’t know about the flick, it follows two New York City Broadway stars in crisis. That is to say, their Broadway careers have flatlined and they need help.
In a small Indiana town, a high school student suffers from heartache, but befriends the most interesting pair of people. It is a classic tale of symbiotic relationship, twisted with celebrity involvement on a night to remember.
Now, in steps the Swedish electronic dance music duo for the afterparty. They’ve asked for fans to send in dance videos with their favorite Galantis song. That way, someone may get featured on the screen. Pretty neat and interesting. Join both headliners and the entire cast of Prom for a kickin’ celebration this weekend. Meryl Streep, James Corden, Nicole Kidman, Keegan-Michael Key, and more will appear.
“Prom is such a special event for most people, and I can’t be more excited to be hosting The Prom: Tonight Belongs to You so we can build a prom for EVERYONE. EVERYONE deserves to be celebrated, loved, and appreciated! So come join us and bring your Unruly Heart, and definitely your ZAZZ hands!” – Jonathan Van Ness
All proceeds received during the show will to go to the Unruly Hearts Initiative. It helps advocates of the LGBTQ+ community and connects young audiences. The initiative lends its hand to housing insecurity solutions, mental health access, and mentorship and education access. According to Murphy, this movement “will help many kids around the world that need to be supported, loved, and seen”.
