BBC Radio 1 will be hosting a 24-hour stream titled Dance 1. Electronic music lovers will have a whole week to listen to a variety of exclusive mixes by top artists in dance music as well as Essential Mixes from Radio 1’s archives.
The stream will kick off next month on Friday, October 9 at 6 PM. This will be the first-ever 24-hour stream that BBC has ever held.
From Monday – Thursday, there will be a series of radio shows broadcasted from the stream. These include:
- 4 PM – 6 PM: Pete Tong‘s Radio 1 Show
- 6 PM – 7 PM: Exclusive mixes from big names in electronic music.
- 7 PM – 9 PM: Essential mixes from Radio 1’s Classic Essential Mix.
- 9 PM – 11 PM: Radio 1’s Drum & Bass Show with Renee La Vice.
- 11 PM – 1 AM: Radio 1’s Residency featuring artists such as Disclosure and Amelie Lens.
Party With BBC Radio 1 During The Weekend
On Friday night, BBC aims to create an epic dance party for listeners. There will be three hours of workout anthems (3 PM – 6 PM), a special dance party with Annie Mac (6 PM – 8 PM), Danny Howard (8 PM – 10 PM), and Pete Tong (10 PM – 12 AM), as well as a Radio 1 Essential Mix (12 AM – 2 AM).
The party doesn’t stop there, as the dance stream will air on Saturday nights too. It will be a series of dance anthems with Mista Jam (4 PM – 7 PM) along with a club mix by Danny Howard (7 PM – 8 PM). Afterward, there will be a BBC Introducing Dance fronted by Jaguar show (8 PM – 9PM), followed by Radio 1’s Essential Mix. Diplo & Friends will end off the night with mixes from potential and popular artists that fans of the series have grown to enjoy.
Topping that off, BBC will also be hosting a stream for Sunday nights, which will help listeners to unwind and relax right before the weekend is done. There will be artist-curated mixes that will consist of laidback sounds and tunes on Radio 1’s Wind Down. This will take place from 4 AM – 8 AM, 12 PM – 2 PM, and 6 PM – 8 PM.
