It’s always a pleasure for us to share some good news just to kickstart the weekend. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has just green-lighted the reopening of music venues starting from Saturday, granted social distancing measures will be put in place and adhered to. Other entertainment venues such as theatres and stadiums are set to follow suit.
The announcement comes after a week that has seen over 300 venues protest against the government’s handling of the pandemic, especially as indoor music events were originally set for return much earlier. However, as with all things coronavirus, the situation remains highly fluid, and therefore the date had to be pushed back.
This comes on the same day that the UK decides to implement further travel restrictions. Just today, the country added France and the Netherlands to its travel quarantine list, which mandates a 14-day quarantine period. Other countries currently on the list include Monaco, Malta, Turks and Caicos, and Aruba.
Regardless, it’s certainly good news for the music industry, and for the general population in general. Because frankly, we could all use some good live music at this point.
