By now you’ve heard a lot of new music, and Crankdat is here to give you more. He’s got a new kind of dubstep track titled ‘Tell Me‘, with punchy bass lines and melodic dubstep mixed together. We see its release on Monstercat, the Canadian independent electronic music label.
It starts off with a tuneful drop and emotional lyrics. Powerful echos and luscious synths echo in the background. There is a blast bass echo that segues into the buildup. Get ready for the drop because it bangs your head. Dance to the trap-esque melody while simultaneously nodding your head back and forth. It’s a new take on dubstep and we can certainly get behind it.
Who is Crankdat? Ohio native Christian Smith is. He first broke out into the dance music scene in 2015 as a 19-year-old. His first mix of Fetty Wap’s ‘Trap Queen’ went so viral that he accumulated over 120 million streams since.
He’s worked with trap heavyweight Lookas and garners immense support from stalwarts like The Chainsmokers, Tiesto, Excision, and more. His signature ‘re-cranks’ sound is something that his fans follow everywhere, from Australia to throughout the US.
As the name suits the man, we can see this kid continuing to grow within the industry. He holds quite a few releases every year since 2016, with some on labels like Loko Records, Dubset Media, Armada Music, Ultra Records, Welcome Records, and more. His remixes crank his potential to higher volumes as well. They span from The Black Eye Peas, Porter Robinson, Skrillex, San Holo, Swedish House Mafia.
Get your robot on and listen to his latest track below. We hope you enjoy the ride!
