RUDGR Will Have ‘This Is My Church’ Exhibit In The Netherlands

RUDGR announced that ‘This is my Church‘ will be having an exhibit in Maastricht, the Netherlands. From October 2020 to February 2021 you’ll see some of the most iconic photos in the dance music scene.

A prominent figure in the electronic music scene is celebrating his photo book and collection. To be specific, this will be throughout the days between October 3, 2020, and February 28, 2021, at the Fotomuseum aan het Vrijthof. Throughout, electronic music enthusiasts can enjoy Geerling’s work in a museum setting for the first time.

RUDGR is known for taking pictures of festivals such as Ultra Music and Tomorrowland. In addition, he also covered a range of Dutch hometown DJs including Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, Don Diablo, Hardwell, Nicky Romero, and Tiësto.

The exhibit explores the role of festival DJs, staging, lighting, and audience in making a great atmosphere. Not only that, but it will also include documentation of festival landscapes, flow arts, backstage photos, and intimate portraits of artists and attendees. Seventy photos and supporting videos provide a unique insight into the dance world.

“What started as taking pictures for fun, during a very boring Master’s study, turned into scuba-diving with sharks, having snowboarders miss me by inches (sometimes not), standing between 30,000 raving people or climbing active volcanoes while seeing the furthermost corners of the earth. The choice of doing what I loved instead of what I learned was the best decision I ever made. This is living life to the fullest.”

Rutger firstly published his photo book, This is my Church, in 2015. The project was a 20-year overview of the international dance music scene. The book begins with a foreword from his friend Armin van Buuren and contains interviews with some featured artists.
