#LetUsDance is a new campaign backed by Fatboy Slim, Pete Tong and Four Tet. It urges the UK government to save nightclubs and venues by including them in their stimulus saving package.
Powered by the Association for Electronic Music and the Night Time Industries Association, the UK is making efforts for the industry. As a community of ravers, they need our help in spreading the word on socials. Music and entertainment is still being crippled by the effect of the global COVID-19 pandemic with no foreseeable plans for the future.
So far, the UK government hasn’t announced a plan for nightclub reopenings. Though rumors of indoor concerts could start on August 1. They even have a 1.57 billion euro stimulus package for the arts, though how the proceeds will be shared is unclear.
“London’s dance venues and nightclubs are the envy of the world. They are a social hub for so many communities and a key part of our economy at night. The government has failed to provide them with specific support…of when they can open their doors again. Like so many night-time venues, they have been hit hard by the impact of months of closure due to Covid-19 and are in urgent need of help. The government must make clear its commitment to protecting jobs in this vibrant sector to ensure that London’s nightclubs not only survive this pandemic, but thrive beyond it.” – Amy Lamé, London’s Night Czar
We sympathize with the UK because if they can’t get their nightlife back, how can we? Who will be the first to come back and will the future of live entertainment be sustainable? So many questions with not enough answers at the moment. All we can do now is band together with this movement.
