Ferry Corsten presents his track hot off Corsten’s Countdown 683, ‘Black Lion‘. Released on Flashover Recordings, this uplifting track features Trance Wax, combines trance and breakbeats, and is everything we need right now.
From the very start, the driving bass line propels the piece with syncopated percussion. The melody in the background is accompanied by piano and synths, making this an everlasting trance track. Its renegade ambiance it exudes during the break and buildup showcase the diversity of Ferry’s sound. It also introduces to us floaty breakbeats, dark technoid relentlessness, with a classic trance twist. Truly a beautiful and moving piece from start to finish, this one is for all the fans out there.
For those that don’t know, Trance Wax is actually North Irish producer, Ejeca. He is more personally known as Garry McCartney. Secondly, the Trance Wax project aims to unite young clubbers and old ravers with a new generation of trance. Thirdly, taking classics from the genre’s golden age and modernizing them for today’s dance floors (or headphones), this release exhibits that. We can hear the nostalgic echos of dance music back then, but with a fresh new spin and tone it perfectly personifies what new music is these days. Garry has already made five Trance Wax EPs and an Essential Mix for BBC.
As for Corsten, this will be his fourth single release for 2020, among many others. Giving the current state of things, we appreciate the new music that is being concocted in studios worldwide. Our hearts go out to those that have been affected by the pandemic. We hope that even in the darkest of times, happiness can be found. You must just remember to turn on the trance.
