Future house pioneer Don Diablo returns with an emotional and epic track he’s collaborated on with Andy Grammer. Their new track ‘Thousand Faces’ promises to be one of the best tracks this year.
Don Diablo is certainly a favorite amongst many people. His signature sound only confirms him as a legend of the industry. This year has already been big for him, as he released ‘We Are Love‘ earlier and has played DJ sets both in clubs and at home.
An emotive, energetic track
Why emotive? You may be confused, especially considering that future house tracks don’t typically stand out for being very emotional. Don’s songs were never intended to be emotional, but his father’s death in 2012 marked him in different ways.
It has been 8 years since this event and he still remembers him in events and several songs. Just by listening to the song’s opening lines, I realized that this track is not only inspired by his father – he’s honored here, too.
One part of the song mentions seeing thousands of faces daily, but none is his face – but still, he will do his best to make him proud. The single brings to mind that iconic 2012 track ‘The Artist Inside’, whose video has clips of the person who has inspired him throughout his life.
In technical aspects, the track packs a punch with emotive vocals, a big build-up, and a powerful drop. The melody and sound design are out of the typical explosive boom Future House style, rather it has elements closer to Future Bass. The piano gives it a melancholic touch, but the drop gives it a huge power that makes ‘Thousand Faces’ filled with energy.
