Anjunabeats continues to celebrate its 20 year anniversary with lots of music. Last month, Oliver Smith blessed us with his celebratory mix. This month, we have Mat Zo curating the beats.
After two decades of releasing music, Anjunabeats has become one of the largest labels in the world. Among the many factors to the label’s success. their commitment towards spearheading the evolution of trance music stands out the most.
In addition to releasing more than 700 records through the label, Anjunabeats has also kickstarted the career of various producers like Andrew Bayer, Ilan Bluestone, and Seven Lions. To celebrate the anniversary this year, various label artists will be sifting through 20 years of Anjunabeats history, picking their favorite tunes which will be released every 2 weeks on a compilation. The series started with Oliver Smith, the first-ever producer that was signed onto the label.
Mat Zo
Mat Zo came to Anjunabeats in 2008 as a teenage drum and bass producer who wanted to try something different. And that’s exactly what he has accomplished. A true artist, unencumbered by genre or labels. His music is always fresh, exciting, and rewarding to listen to the first time or the hundredth time.
“Anjunabeats is a label with a lot of history, and it’s cool to be a part of that. I’ve seen the label evolve over the years from relatively humble beginnings, and it’s amazing to still be a part of it 12 years later. With this mix, I wanted to show how broad the range of Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep is, and what drew me to the label in the first place.”
Mat zo
The label describes Mat Zo as an extraordinary talent. His music released on the label has been nothing but hits.
‘Superman’, ‘Rebound’, ’24 Hours’, ‘Pyramid Scheme’ with Chuck D, ‘Synapse Dynamics’, and ‘Easy’ are label classics. Moreover, his debut album, Damage Control, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album.
Mat Zo 20 years of Anjunabeats Compilation
Mat Zo’s compilation features iconic songs from the label over the years. It is characterized by being one of the most unselfish works of this year. It’s noteworthy that none of his tracks are in the compilation and only features other label artists.
“Mat’s mix takes a rather unselfish view of the label’s history – none of these tunes are his – but we can’t wait to hear what his take on our last 20 years has been”
