Lollapalooza May Be in Jeopardy as Grant Park Music Festival is Canceled

Chicago’s Grant Park Music Festival has officially canceled its complete summer 2020 season due to the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, all events planned to take place from June 10th – August 15th at various venues have been canceled. Unfortunately, this may spell doom for the popular Chicago music festival Lollapalooza.

Currently, Lollapalooza is expected to take place for three days on July 30th – August 2nd at Grant Park. However, those dates are within the date range of the Grant Park Music Festival cancellation. Of course, no official confirmation has been made by Lollapalooza as to whether the festival will take place or not. However, according to Festive Owl, the new event cancellations may be an indicator that something will occur.

The lineup for Lollapalooza 2020 hasn’t come out yet, so we won’t know the artists that will be impacted by the potential cancellation. As many music festivals face cancellations due to the pandemic, some have arranged for a reschedule. It’s too early to tell whether or not Lolla will get pushed back later in the year, or completely canceled for 2020.

Certainly, Lollapalooza will make an announcement soon if the future of the event is affected in any way. Sadly, it is unknown if the coronavirus will still be a threat at the time of the current event dates. Therefore, we can only wait and see as to what occurs in the coming days.

Stay tuned for more updates on Lollapalooza 2020.
