Insomniac Furloughs 50% of Staff as Refunds are Announced

Popular dance-music festival organizers Insomniac have unfortunately furloughed about 50% of its employees. Billboard confirms this news just after Pasquale Rotella announced on social media about the companies long refund process. Currently, Insomniac’s limited staff is working remotely, making the refund process slightly longer than it should be.

According to a statement made by Rotella, who is the founder of Insomniac:

“Like many other companies in our industry impacted by COVID-19, Insomniac made the difficult but necessary decision to furlough certain employees while we are unable to produce our shows.” He continues, “It is our full intention to bring those team members back on board once events are allowed to occur again, and the business is in a position to support the additional staff.”

Certainly, Insomniac is one of many companies in the entertainment industry that has been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Mass gathering events such as club and music festivals have indefinitely been restricted from occurring. As a result, many events such as Coachella, Bonnaroo, EDC Las Vegas, Electric Forest, and possibly Lollapalooza have been affected. Ultimately, ticketing platforms, such as Ticketmaster, are also experiencing some turmoil due to the pandemic.

As for the refunds, Rotella has guaranteed that ticket purchasers for events such as Beyond Wonderland SoCal and EDC Las Vegas will receive them soon. Unfortunately, it will take a bit longer due to the mass amount of Insomniac shows and clubs that have been canceled.

Stay tuned for Insomniac updates.
