It looks like this year’s summer music festivals in Quebec, Canada may be no more. According to the Montreal Gazette, the Quebec government is asking for the cancellation of all events; this includes music festivals, cultural events, and sporting events.
The request was made on Friday for the purpose of “considering the evolution of the COVID-19 situation in Quebec and the need to respect the need to engage in physical-distancing of two meters for an extended period.” Therefore, the Quebec government believes that in order to maintain the safety and health of the community, music festivals, as well as indoor and outdoor events, should be canceled.
Most music festivals in Montreal and Quebec City are already postponed or canceled. This is specifically due to the coronavirus pandemic and a ban that has already been put in place until July 2nd. Since Friday, there have been no updates as to whether the new request will move forward.
