I been a rough few years for Spring Awakening Music Festival. For most of 2019, there was nonstop speculation about the festival and for the huge Chicago-based promotion company, React Presents. Rumors began when fans of the festival noticed that the festival’s social media accounts were quiet. In 2020, there were rumblings about a new, smaller company hosting the festival entirely.
But then, LiveXLive, a publicly traded streaming company, announced on February 7th that they acquired React. The company easily saw the potential to revive the festival and other events in Chicago. And now, we’re all set to go!
Set for June 12th-14th of 2020, SAMF will officially be happening! And this time, it’s returning to the city!
After last year’s surprising move to a venue one hour outside of downtown, it will be held at Union Park. The venue is extremely close to many forms of transportation! This location has successfully hosted other events such as Riot Fest and North Coast Music Festival. These two festivals are widely known for their successful experiences and being able to bring fantastic artists to their lineups. There will be more positive changes happening to the festival. Unlike years past, LiveXLive and React are going to transform the venue. It will include more art, interactive installations, games, and plenty more to be announced.
