It’s barely two weeks into the new year and we’re already hearing some rumblings coming from the bass community. Nitti Gritti has bassheads everywhere pumping the bass with the release of his new album, What A Time To Be Alive. Clearly, he’s setting himself up for a fast start to 2020 and this new EP shows he’s not playing around. The five-track effort includes some of bass music’s current biggest names. Shaquille O’Neal aka DJ Diesel, Funtcase, Ookay, and Yako all provide their expertise on this project. With this all star roster, we can already assume it will be getting spins deep into the year. In addition, he’s undertaking a major tour in 2020 with none other than Wuki. You can see all of the Roshambo Tour dates here.
What A Time To Be Alive is already shaping up to be one of the best projects of the year due to its solid features on nearly all of its tracks. In particular, the relentless beats and bass-laden synths take centerpiece of the EP. With that, the bass certainly dominates in ‘Takin’ Over‘ which features Shaq. Another album highlight is the lead title track which features rumbling basslines and frenetic synths that screech from the subs as the track rolls along. Its destiny is to be a surefire headbanging anthem. Nitti Gritti will definitely bring dance floors to life with this one and he’s set the bar pretty high for bass music in this new decade. Overall, the entire collection provides a stellar listening experience and demands a listen from start to finish.
