Coachella 2020 Will Be More Environmentally Friendly

I think we all can agree that music festivals are awesome. The music, people, atmosphere, and food have us wishing they could last forever. However, every time a major festival occurs, the environment takes a hit. The camp grounds and stages are filled with garbage by the end. Coachella and other music festivals have an effect on the local environment.

We have already seen UK festivals come together to ban single-use tents. Now, Coachella has announced a partnership with Contingo, a leader of reusable water bottles. Their goal is to reduce single-use PET plastic and encourage festival goers to reuse water bottles. Dave Lew, Contingo Vice President of Marketing had this to say about the partnership:

“We’re thrilled to team up with Coachella and bring our initiative to reduce single-use plastic bottles to one of the country’s most culturally relevant music and arts events…This partnership provides an unprecedented incredible opportunity to champion reusability and encourage people to make a change that positively impacts our environment”

Although Contingo’s main goal is to reduce single-use plastic water bottles they aim to spread environmental awareness also.

Coachella recently announced their lineup that included big names like Travis Scott, Calvin Harris, Frank Ocean, Flume, and many more. While passes are currently sold out, you can sign up for the waitlist here. I would say the odds of getting off the waitlist are fairly good.

If you are attending the festival or just want a pretty sick water bottle you can purchase the Coachella x Contigo AUTOSEAL® Limited Edition Festival Water Bottle here.
