While Apple is gleaming from its recently released Airpods Pro, there is also some sad news to hit the tech giant this December. After over 20 successful years, chief design officer Jony Ive has split ties with Apple. You likely remember Ive as one of the main voices of Apple. Ive will not only be remembered for his soothing voice but most importantly, his contributions to the design of our favorite Apple devices.
This past June, Ive announced he would be leaving Apple to start his own design company. Ive first joined Apple back in 1992 and has since revolutionized countless devices and software updates we rely on. Without a doubt, Apple would not be where they are today without the work and dedication of Ive. Widely known as the ‘heart and lungs’ of Apple, Ive never failed to impress with his designs.
“Jony is a singular figure in the design world, and his role in Apple’s revival cannot be overstated, from 1998’s groundbreaking iMac to the iPhone and the unprecedented ambition of Apple Park, where recently he has been putting so much of his energy and care.“
Moving On
Most importantly, Ive is largely been credited for the boom of the Apple Watch and iPhone X redesign. Now, Apple will be on a fresh page with their upcoming products. Can the tech giant successfully create a redesigned iPhone in the years to come? Many see Ive’s departure as a huge loss for the company and “end of an era”. All eyes will be on the highly anticipated 2020 iPhone which is rumored to have a huge redesign.
Nonetheless, Ive claims Apple will be a client of his new design company, LoveFrom. While it’s clear there aren’t any hard feelings between the two, we understand Jony would like to do something on his own. All in all, we wish Jony the best of luck in the future and thank him for everything he’s done!
