If you’ve visited the Bayside Marketplace in downtown Miami recently, you likely noticed some major construction going on. Back in August, we learned that SkyViews America would be constructing a brand new observation wheel in the heart of Miami. Miami’s Planning and Zoning Board eagerly approved the wheel back in July this year. Now, we’ve got news that the project will be finished ahead of schedule.
Initially, the project was projected to finish by February of 2020. Now, signage at the site says the observation wheel will open just in time for the 2019 Holidays. New photos taken by The Next Miami, also show the wheel’s foundation almost complete. Once the foundation is completed, the 176-foot wheel will quickly take shape. The Miami observation wheel will be about a fifth the size of the iconic London Eye.
With Ultra making its return to Bayfront Park next March, we can only imagine the views from the new observation wheel at night. Even better, the Bayside Marketplace is conveniently located within walking distance of Bayfront Park. Nonetheless, the observation wheel will offer riders a slow, safe ride inside 42 enclosed capsules. In the long run, the attraction will entertain tourists and residents for years to come.
