As proven through all his side projects, there’s nothing that can hold Diplo back when it comes to music. However, it may be a bit of a shock for fans to find that he’ll be curating music for ESPN’s Monday Night Football. However, it certainly won’t be a challenge for him. He’s a passionate Philadelphia Eagles fan and will be dedicated to this for the remainder of the football season. Fans of both the NFL and EDM are in for a treat.
Diplo chose to use the track “Ruckus” by Konata Small for this week’s Monday Night Football. The attention is on an upcoming game happening next week, with the Seahawks playing against the 49ers. Diplo chose the track because it captures the emotion of this high-stakes division clash between these bitter NFC West rivals. In this game, fans can expect that Russell Wilson will look to continue his MVP season and lead the Seahawks to victory against Jimmy Garoppolo and the undefeated 49ers.
Diplo explains the thought process behind the song selection for the week:
“This is the point in the season where it starts to get really exciting – dumb luck has ended and the true contenders are really being revealed. It’s a part of the season that tests not just the teams, but their fans as well – I feel like the energy of Ruckus is a perfect match for where these two teams are right now.”
Emeka Ofodile, VP of Marketing at ESPN, shared his thoughts about bringing Diplo in as well. He explained that “Diplo is a force to be reckoned with and we knew he’d bring great energy to our Ready for Football campaign. He also happens to be a big sports fan and we’re looking forward to building something really special around the NFL on ESPN.”
“Ready For Football” is a year-round campaign that highlights ESPN’s access and analysis to the NFL. We can expect more thoughtful track selections from Diplo throughout the remainder of the football season.
