There are still five months between now and the first weekend of Coachella, but the buzz about the lineup has already started.
The recent buzz started at the Billboard Live Music Summit and Awards with Coachella founder Paul Tollett. Tollett stated on Tuesday that he was “pretty much done with the lineup this year, 95%”.
The Goldenvoice CEO said his staff is currently working on production plans and Tollett himself is “finalizing the poster”. This year’s event will take place April 10-12 and April 17-19 in Indio, California.
One of the unique scheduling aspects of the two-weekend festival includes artist’s set times. Tollett prefers not to lock in artists to a specific set time. His reasoning is that some artists booked could gain mass amounts of fans in the coming months. This allows for more time to gauge interest and put artists in appropriate-sized venues.
The official lineup release is slated for January, but many fans have begun the guessing game of who to expect in 2020.
One of the most talked about possible headliners is Rage Against the Machine. A recent post from the band included two tour dates corresponding with Coachella. Tollett didn’t confirm the headliners. However, the tour dates mention the two Fridays of Coachella with the location being Indio, California.
With all that said, we’re stuck waiting until January to know who will be performing at the 21st edition of Coachella. Take a moment to reminisce on last year’s lineup.
