He continues to push creative boundaries nonstop and never stays complacent. Hawtin changed and pioneered the sound of techno over the years. Apple’s Music Lab brought him in for a masterclass and live performance. Hawtin shares the set-up behind his CLOSE show and unveils CLOSE combined, his new audiovisual live release designed for iPhone.
The concept and design for the CLOSE show were to minimize the distance between the performer and the audience. It provides a sense of a more intimate connection with barriers all stripped down. Richie Hawtin breaks down all the gear he has and uses.
For the CLOSE sets, there are small cameras scattered around Hawtin that provides the audience with a close up view as well as different perspectives. The CLOSE combined app utilizes these different camera angles and makes it accessible for people all over the world.
