Back in 2016, Flume released his widely known hit “Never Be Like You” with Kai. Fast forward to 2019 and the Australian producer has hit 1,000,000,000 streams on the t rack. Not to mention, he’s one of the few to reach this feat in his home country. No, we didn’t add any extra zeros to that number – you read that right. “Never Be Like You” has made it to the 1 billion streams club.
In celebration of this extraordinary accomplishment, the APRA (Australian Performing Right Association) and AMCOS (Australian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society), recognized Flume on their 1 billion list. This list is reserved for Australian artists who have reached or surpassed this massive benchmark. Of course, listeners around the world on multiple streaming services have contributed to Flume’s success, but this list only includes Australian artists.
“Flume’s songwriting and production has had a huge influence on how music sounds, and his success has opened the doors for his fellow Australian music creator.”
With Flume now added to the exclusive list, he can mark this achievement off his bucket list. At the moment, there are only three artists on the Australian 1 billion list. For instance, Dean Lewis and Nat Dunn are the only other artist to make the 1 billion stream feat. Furthermore, Dean Ormston, APRA and AMCSOS chief executive, praised Flume, stating he’s had a huge influence for fellow Australian creators.
Lastly, we’d like to congratulate Flume on this accomplishment. “Never Be Like You” will only continue to surpass 1 billion in the years to come!
