The man who formerly represented rapper ASAP Rocky in his Swedish assault case was the victim of a shooting outside his Stockholm apartment on Friday, September 6th.
According to Swedish newspaper Expressen, Henrik Olsson Lilja was leaving his apartment Friday morning when someone shot him in the head and chest. Despite his wounds he was able to call police himself. Ambulances arrived on scene at 8:59 a.m. and transported Lilja to a local hospital.
The lawyer first represented the American rapper after his July conviction of aggravated assault in the Swedish capital following a public brawl with a 19-year-old man. Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, spent a month in jail before he was released in August to return to the States. However, by the time the rapper’s trial started, Rocky’s other attorneys took over the case.
At this time, police are investigating the matter as an “isolated incident”. It remains unknown whether or not the shooting had anything to do with Lilja’s involvement in Rocky’s highly-publicized case . Witnesses claim they saw a man wrestle Lilja into a stairwell and then flee to a black getaway SUV.
“The police have arrested several people for questioning,” a Swedish Police Authority wrote on their official website. “The investigation is at an intense stage and the police are working on several different fronts to make progress.” Of those arrested include a woman, reportedly also a senior lawyer, who had previously been banned from contacting Lilja.
Although he was conscious when police arrived, his current condition is unknown. Stay tuned for updates.
