Nocturnal Wonderland is one of Insomniac‘s flagship festivals, and for good reason. Like most Insomniac Events, the So-Cal massive has become synonymous with impeccable production, amazing crowds, and stellar lineups. When you think about it, it totally makes sense why it is America‘s longest-running rave. It has been around 24 years to be exact, that’s longer than some ravers have been alive for.
The team over at Insomniac recently took to their Facebook page to share a brief video on the history of Nocturnal Wonderland. The video titled ‘Dancing In The Dark’ features words from Christopher Lawrence, Dj Tatiana, Jason Bentley, The Crystal Method, and more. They speak about how back in the day, Pasquale Rotella would hang out in the wee hours of the morning to catch people leaving the clubs, and hand out flyers himself. Regal rave robe & all.
Dj Dan speaks about how he’s seen it all, from ‘break-in renegade warehouse raves’ to ‘rat-infested’ parties, and how Nocturnal Wonderland was the first party that every truly amazed him. If you’ve ever been to Nocturnal in the past, I’m sure you can attest that its one of a kind. Moby even makes an appearance in the video, check it out.
If you’ve yet to attend, don’t miss your chance. This year’s festival is slated to be the final Nocturnal Wonderland to take place at the Glen Helen Amphitheater. This is all due to recent changes in noise ordinances. With everyone from DJ Snake, Camelphat, & Zeds Dead on the lineup, this is a party you do not want to miss.
