Porsche and Apple Music are teaming up to make listening to music in your car easier than ever. Porsche’s new all-electric production vehicle, named the Taycan, will be fully integrated with Apple Music. The announcement came at an event held at the auto-maker’s North American headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Taycan will allow Apple Music subscribers to stream the full Apple Music Library and Beats 1 from inside their vehicle. Drivers can control the music through the Porsche Advanced Cockpit dashboard in the car. Drivers will also be able to use voice control to request songs, albums and more through the streaming service. In addition, Taycan owners will have the ability to create custom radio stations on Apple Music based on songs heard on the radio.
Along with the other features noted, Apple Music will have exclusive playlists offered by Porsche. Owners of the new Taycan will get three years of free in-car internet and six months of Apple Music. Furthermore, existing Porsche owners who already have an Apple Music subscription will get three months free.
The luxury car brand and streaming service giant believe this partnership blends seamlessly with the goals of both companies.
“Porsche and Apple Music fit perfectly — we share common values, and the same relentless attitude to user experience, to quality engineering, to design, and to innovation,” Detlev von Platen, member of the executive board for sales and marketing at Porsche AG said in a statement. “Together, we bring innovative digital entertainment technologies in our high-performance sports cars, starting with our fully electric Taycan.”
At this time, the Porsche Taycan is set for a September release and already has 30,000 pre-orders.
