As a well-known name on Anjunabeats, Genix took to releasing his new track ‘Open Your Eyes‘ on Above & Beyond‘s esteemed imprint. This comes off the cuffs of his world record-breaking DJ set on Mount Everest and the last release on the label.
Preceding this release, the producer partook in a grand collaboration with Fatum, Jaytech and Judah titled ‘All In‘. Forwarding to the current moment, Genix continues his releases this year nodding back to his inspirations. He described the new track:
‘Open Your Eyes’ is a love letter to the classic rave culture and trance he grew up on, evoking the likes of Faithless and Sasha for this head-down, full throttle anthem.
‘Open Your Eyes’ is certainly an awe-inspiring nod towards the music that has shaped Genix. The pulsating rhythm introducing the song eases it an the ethereal breakdown. From there, the track strips itself to the pads and delicate spoken word. This all accumulates into a driving trance track merging the Genix sound alongside the classic influences.
If you feel familiar with the track, it’s probably because it featured on Anjunabeats Volume 14. It showed up alongside his own ‘Boom Box‘ and the aforementioned ‘All In’. This allowed his productions to pull into a space occupying some of Anjuna’s other juggernaut talents. To name a few artists on the compilation, Matt Lange, Andrew Bayer, Spencer Brown, Ilan Bluestone, and Jason Ross all had their work showcased.
