Sometimes the deepest and most passionate music comes from when an artist is striving through their darkest times. This is the case for Türküm’s debut studio album ‘Anti-Sober’. After a year on break, the Turkish Indie artist is now back with a full on album that reflects his personal struggles in life. The 11-track album presents a story of feeling angst, anger, fear, loneliness, sadness and hope throughout his struggle with humanity and alcoholism. When commenting on his new album Türküm had this to say:
“Anti-Sober was more than just an album for me, it was the downhill transition for myself where I noticed that my perspective on reality took a new extreme, I came to an answer with the fact that you just can’t change some things in this world. Alcohol was a way out for me being able to put the bullshit aside and really talk to anyone without having to see the reality of humans and the conflict of ego amongst society.”
The album is divided into two parts. Every track in the first half is titled in big capital letters to indicate the struggles he faced with alcoholism and humanity. The second half include tracks like ‘Starlight’ and ‘Treat Me Right’ reflects his path to recovery. Türküm is talented to the point where he can inject his emotions and passion into his music that can translate to being felt by the listener.
