Is Spotify draining all your data? Perhaps you are across the globe with limited network connectivity. Well, Spotify has a solution for you. It is announcing a new ‘Lite’ version of its app. This new version of the app will help music reach more individuals across the world. It may also even help you save some money on your data bill.
Spotify Lite functions just like the main app. It still makes discovering new music very easy. You’ll able to search for artists, discover new music, and enjoy a variety of playlists. The main difference is the lite app will be accommodating older devices. This is also including older operating systems. Kally Persson, Senior Product Manager at Spotify explains the reasoning behind the new app:
“Spotify Lite was built from the ground up based on user feedback from around the world, allowing millions more to enjoy the world’s best music experience — especially in areas with limited bandwidth and phone storage.”
Spotify ‘Lite’ Connecting Users Across the World
Currently available in 36 markets from Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Africa, Spotify Lite makes controlling and managing your data easy. Furthermore, it gives you the ability to set limits on your data usage. At 10 MB to download/ install and load, this app won’t be increasing your data bill.
Downloading the Lite app is easy, and free. The app can be downloaded for free users and Spotify Premium users. It can be used either with, or independently from the main Spotify app on all Android phones running version 4.3 or higher. Spotify is hoping to give users access to music who might not otherwise be able to access given their location in the world. This new app will both be helping under-served populations across the globe, as well as music lovers hoping to save some money on data fees. Although, Spotify isn’t alone in announcing a lite version of their app. Facebook, Instagram and Uber have also joined the bandwagon of releasing lite versions.
With over 217 million users, and 100 million paying customers, Spotify will only continue to grow. Check out the Spotify ‘Lite’ App on the Google Play now.
