We’re just under 4 months away from the official Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL launch. Last month, Google released a photo of the new Pixel 4 after seeing multiple leads spread online. Since then, we haven’t heard much more regarding the Pixel 4, but now, leakers have moved on to the 4 XL device. A new set of renders showcase the Pixel 4 XL’s primary features and design.
Once again, these next set of renders were posted by OnLeaks, in collaboration with PriceBaba. The renders themselves look accurate enough to what we can expect from the official 4 XL. Our friends on Reddit quickly pointed out several added and missing features to be concerned with. First, on the back of the device, there is an obvious triple camera setup. This feature aligns with Google’s posted photo of Pixel 4 back in June. Moreover, it will mark the first time Google has transitioned from a singular camera setup.
The most concerning aspect of the renderings is, in fact, the frontal design and features. At first glance, the device looks oddly similar to an iPhone sans the missing top notch. The bottom bezel is very thin, which is a much needed improvement over the Pixel 3 and 3 XL. Next, several Reddit users pointed out that the top bezel has no front-firing speaker. This would be a major step back, as users rely on perfect sound quality for music, videos, and games. Maybe the large bezel will house a double selfie camera or some sort of facial recognition.
Lastly, the back of the device looks to be made of glass—perfect for wireless charging. This also means there will not be a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device. It may be implemented under the front display or a new facial recognition feature may be in the works. Size-wise, the 4 XL will supposedly measure 160.4 x 75.2 x 8.2mm. Again all of this information, including the renderings, should be taken with a grain of salt. The October launch will be here before you know it.
