Remixing an artist like Jon Hopkins is no easy feet, so Solomun took on quite the challenge on ‘Emerald Rush‘. The track is a staple off Hopkins’ newest ‘Singularity‘ album, which followed ‘Immunity‘ after a long 5 year wait. To our fortune, the remix’s radio edit is available before the official release on Domino Record Co due out on July 17.
Solomun centered the remix around the glitchy and snappy ethos of the original track while weaving his own sound into it. Bringing variation into the rhythmic patterns, the remix begins to take shape as the vocal hum pushes forward. From there, the production begins to bloom new elements including the slightly acidic and toned down arpeggio. In continuation, it pulls back into pattern with underlying drone pads that carry towards the finale. Overall, the solid track hones on being both vibrant and comfortable regardless of the seemingly hectic sound.
Solomun—who’s also the Diynamic label head—is currently touring, so if you want to hear the track played out, head here. In addition, he’s gearing up to release a second album next year.
In regards to Jon Hopkins, this isn’t the first remix he presented us off his album. To note an outstanding remix, ANNA spun her sound on the ‘Singularity’ title track. To follow up on Jon’s tour schedule, click here.
