An unfortunate bit of news for Electric Forest has risen for future volunteers needed. Kingdom Promotions, a vendor of the festival, has just cut 200 volunteers. Many have already arrived onsite to work. There is no reimbursement, no tickets, and no work. Their hours of time and money invested in traveling to Rothbury has now gone to waste.
An updated statement from EF is as follows:
Volunteers have spoken out about the issue and do not find it fair that their excitement has been squashed by a last minute mishap. Some attendees missed out on getting tickets because the staff needed more volunteers. Needless to say, they never came.
Not a very good start to the four day event happening this weekend. We greatly appreciate the time and effort of volunteers at festivals. For a staff reduction this big to happen, it can create some problems. Additionally, what happens to the refunds for deposits made by volunteers to work?
Anticipation of the first day is looming on attendees. Their continued support for the volunteers shows as they try to petition for at least a campsite for them. Taking place Thursday, June 27th – Sunday, June 30th, headliners Alison Wonderland, Bassnectar, Kygo, Zeds Dead, and more are slated to perform.
Who Is Responsible?
An online debate has definitely ensued as this may become a detriment to EF’s future persona. Who is responsible for fixing this logistical nightmare? Our hearts go out to the dedicated volunteers there and we hope they get some kind of compensation for their travels. It takes a community to put together a festival, and it’s their vibes that make us groove. To change that or rob us of an experience does not make a good festival.
A spokesperson on behalf of Electric Forest has yet to comment on the situation.
