Brookes Brothers – Good Thing
Dance music of 2019 has continued to evolve with several genres shifting popularity levels (we’re looking at you techno). Amongst the noise, one artist to keep your ears out for is veteran production team Brookes Brothers. The British duo brings a unique soulful flare to the world of Drum and Bass, which makes them stand out in their genre and in the world of dance music.
With tracks that have the same level of artistry as leading genre producers Sub Focus, Wilkinson, and Danny Byrd, Brookes Brothers has continued to push the boundaries for DnB. Coming in hot after their previous anthem ‘Every Minute‘, the two return with their signature disco infused sound in their newest single ‘Good Thing’.
‘Good Thing’ is sultry and electrifying. Brookes Brothers combines the soulful topline with melodic piano and a driving beat. What really stands out in this track is the perfect musical arrangement. The duo has a knack for pairing the right vocals with the right instruments. This was evident in their previous smash hit ‘Carry Me On’ which in 2013 was selected as Zane Lowe’s “Hottest Record in the World”. Not to mention, nearly every track off their previous Orange Lane LP was unique and musically complex.
‘Good Thing’ may be new, but it references the early 2000s era of DnB – when the genre was at its height. If Brookes Brothers continues to create bangers such as this one, then the future for DnB will be nothing but promising.
