Closing out Saturday’s circuitGROUNDS stage at EDC Mexico, Skrillex came to play. He gave us exactly what we didn’t know we needed in our lives. Orchestrating a mix of new IDs along with some iconic tracks of old, Skrillex unleashed a performance that took us down memory lane and gave us a small glimpse of what he has in store for us next.
Just over an hour, he packed his set with IDs such as ‘WTFIWWY,’ ‘Ping Pong,’ and a Missy Elliott collab alongside his beloved classics ‘Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites,’ ‘Bangarang,’ his remix of Avicii‘s ‘Levels,’ ‘Where Are Ü Now,’ and just so much more. While we all know it’s been some time since we’ve seen Skrillex on the festival scene, he brushed off some the rust by going over his set time by accident. Thankfully for us, Pasquale Rotella let him finish off his set even though he went past curfew. But then again are we complaining about getting more of Skrillex? Of course not, we’ve missed him!
The Skrillex hype is real, we hope he’s back for good, and we’re already itching for what he has in store for us next. We already know he’s teaming up with his old Hardcore/Emo band From First To Last for a show March 22nd, and hitting the Ultra Worldwide Stage as a part of Dogblood on March 29th. While these shows are only a short month away, can we wait that long for more Skrillex in our lives? Hopefully we won’t have to!
