Above & Beyond – ‘Distorted Truth’
Renowned Trance trio Above & Beyond released, ‘Distorted Truth’ off their ‘Common Ground Companion EP’ on their Anjunabeats label. The companion EP chases their 2018 Album, ‘Common Ground,’ including ‘Flying By Candlelight’ (feat. Marty Longstaff) and ‘There’s Only You’ (feat. Zoë Johnston.) The companion EP will receive a limited edition vinyl press, with the digital pack dropping on March 29.
After a bubbly and uplifting first single, ‘Distorted Truth’ brings the darker side of Above & Beyond’s music. The track provides classic trance-styled plucks, notably euphoric working counterpart to the gritty and heavy bassline. The track simultaneously manages to be brute yet beautiful as it subsides into a piano with strings, and a mellow pad which conjoins a flute. As the track builds again, rhythmic drums start picking up, the trance chords resurface, and the track is catapulted into a heavy kick with the plucks controlling the melody.
The single will correspond with the sale of Above & Beyond’s return to The Gorge Amphitheater in July. The Group Therapy Weekender will host a three day camping event, with tickets and camping packages available here!
