90s babies are getting really giddy right now. Chainsmokers took to Twitter to announce they have written a song with Blink-182. I would go to say the two are very comparable in just a different time era. Blink-182 have created memorable songs that we will sing for a lifetime. The Chainsmokers have done the same over the last few years. Some of their songs revolving around love and relationships which is right up Blink-182’s alley.
We can begin to assume this is the type of track we will be hearing in the future. Classic vocals provided by the 90s band and a modern pop drop provided by the American duo. It is clear through the tweet this had been something on the Chainsmoker’s mind for a while. We all know from their famous song ‘Closer’ they specifically reference the band with this line: “Stay and play that Blink-182 song/That we beat to death in Tucson, okay.” Mark Hoppus, a member of Blink-182, had this to say about the collaboration:
“We’ve been friends with them for a few years and have tried to collaborate a bunch of different times, but today our schedules aligned and we were all in the same room at the same time.”
We are super excited for the release of this new track. The Chainsmokers have clearly been more pop-driven recently. As a longtime fan of them, I still hope for the day we hear some more original Chainsmokers music. Regardless, this is big news and we begin to wonder what other bands they might work with in the future.
Just did a session with blink182 and wrote an amazing song. We can die happy now
