While we all felt a Swedish House Mafia reunion was inevitable, there was never a guarantee. Over 5 years apart, Steve Angello working on his solo career, Axwell/\Ingrosso taking flight – the stars weren’t aligning. However, thanks to former manager Amy Thomson, we now have a little insight as to how the old band got back together.
Before her departure back in August 2018, Amy had one last rabbit to pull out of the hat. In her recent Instagram post, Thomson shares a candid story about the iconic Swedish trio. She details a moment one year ago today (Wednesday, November 28) where she received an early morning phone call from Ultra co-founder Adam Russakoff. Frequently getting calls from him too early in the morning, this one was different:
“COME ON, AMY…IT’S TIME.”
Time for the trio to reunite. Time for the world to see their brilliance again. Time to revive our way of life. From that moment on, the mission was clear – the Swedish House Mafia reunion will be at Ultra 2018.
It’s a short, but very cool post on the fickle nature of stardom. How one phone call can change everything. How people can be brought back from the brink, and thrust into a spotlight bigger than any of them could imagine. It reminds us how the line between fame and forgotten is so nuanced, all it takes is one little push to send you in either direction. How one phone call can Save The World (well, metaphorically).
The Swedish House Mafia reunion tour takes full shape in 2019. You had better get your tickets early to get in on the action!
