Regardless of how you feel about the DJ Mag Top 100, it is here to stay. This past week saw the Amsterdam Dance Event take place, as well as the Amsterdam Music Festival. ADE was full of everything Dance Music, from shows to production masterclasses, pop-up shops, and even meet & greets.
The latter, AMF was a bit different, as it was an actual music festival, full of festivities. One such festivity was the release of the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ’s poll results. There was plenty of news to be had, from Martin Garrix continuing his reign as Number 1, to the Swedish House Mafia re-entering the poll altogether.
Having placed at number 63, the trio consisting of Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello became the highest new entry for this year’s poll. While 63 is pretty low for the group consisting of these three legends, it is important to remember that they’ve only performed once in over five years. In years past, we’ve seen the group go from 23 in 2010, 10 in 2011, to 12 in 2012, and lastly 26 in 2013.
Having hit number 10 in 2011 is pretty good. However, I’m sure none of the group members takes this poll too seriously to begin with. Consisting of the three master producer that are Axwell, Steve, & Seb, I’m sure they would all individually, and collectively as Swedish House Mafia end up on any list we could think of. It will be interesting to see where they end up on next years poll once they start touring again. I for one, can’t wait.
