Authorities in South Carolina say around 30 people were taken to local hospitals after the floor of a clubhouse collapsed during a large party. The party took place near Clemson University at The Woodlands Apartments clubhouse.
Clemson sophomore Larissa Stone told the Independent Mail of Anderson that the room was “packed” and a popular song was playing when the floor collapsed.
“So everyone was jumping. The beat was about to drop and literally the whole floor collapsed,” she said. “It happened so quickly. I stood up, and everyone was trying to climb out. People are under other people. People are hurt. People are bleeding. I had blood on my sneakers. It was really bad.”
Scenes such as this call attention to the dangers of overcrowded events. Although this seems like an unregulated party, such occurrences can also find their way into the EDM scene, such as the event at the Butterfly Disco Club one year ago.
Luckily for all the party goers, no life-threatening injuries are being reported. Nevertheless, expect some serious repercussions for those who set this event up.
