New York City’s Meadows Music and Arts Festival faced a sad predicament recently. They took to social media this past Friday to announce that the 2018 edition of their festival was canceled due to permit issues.
This was to be the festival’s third edition this year, however after changing locations to the Flushing Meadows Corona Park they were not able to obtain a multi-day permit for the event. Previously, the festival was held at Queens’ Citi Field and boasted a line-up including Bassnectar, Migos, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jay Z, A-track and many more heavy hitters.
Here’s what they had to say about the cancellation:
“After two great years at Citi Field, we were excited to shift our venue focus entirely to Flushing Meadows Corona Park – the location we always hoped to move to in year 3. However, after review of our application by NYC Parks, we were not able to obtain a workable multi-day permit for a 2018 festival in the park. Our sights are set on The Meadows in 2019, and we look forward to working together with all city partners and agencies.”
