In a blog post earlier this week, Sameer Samat the VP of Product Management Android & Google Play outlined the top features. For instance, Adaptive Battery learns the apps you use the most and preserves battery for them. App Actions “predicts what you’ll want to do next based on your context and displays that action right on your phone.” Say you’re about to make your morning commute, the software might suggest Google Maps or your music playlist.
Digital Wellbeing
Perhaps the most interesting slices of pie however, is the digital wellbeing feature to help you spend less time on your phone. Wait, a phone manufacturer wants you to spend less time on your phone? As surprising as that may seem, Samat wrote that over 70% of people they spoke with while researching said they want help putting their phone down. Digital wellbeing includes a dashboard showing how you’re spending time on your phone, an App Timer allowing you to set time limits on certain apps and Wind Down which changes to Night Light, fading the screen to grayscale before bedtime. No more mindless Instagram scrolling before bed!
