The DJ known as Tom Swoon (born Dorian Tomasiak) inked a tragic letter from his jail cell, which he posted on social media via his Facebook account. Tomasiak awaits the verdict on his vehicular manslaughter charges stemming from a DUI-related car accident on December 5, 2017. If convicted, Tomasiak faces up to 12 years in prison. In the letter, the 25-year old Polish DJ speaks on his current state of mind, and announced his retirement from the business.
The somber letter details Tomasiak’s genuine regret for the incident. He details his guilty plea and arrest, and reaches out to the family of the woman’s life that was taken.
“I am writing this letter because I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart – first and foremost to the family that has lost their loved one. I cannot imagine the pain that I have unwillingly inflicted to them that feral night and which is probably still with them now. I am also sorry that I’ve let all of you down. I still can’t understand how all of this could have happened.”
The letter conveys Tomasiak’s confusion and genuine anguish. More importantly, he accepts full responsibility of his actions, as well as the gravity of what he has done. In conclusion, Tomasiak states how he will not continue his “Tom Swoon” project alias.
“I still don’t know when I will get to see the life outside of prison, but I know that I want to leave this place as a completely different person, having a completely new life. That’s why I have made a call to end the “Tom Swoon” project for a good. It’s time for me to focus on things way more important than a musical career.”
Fans have shown support through positive messages on Facebook as well as heartbreak for his situation. The full letter, which was penned in Polish and translated on social media, can be viewed below.
