Mike Rozema, better known as Mike McFly, is a Dutch powerhouse behind the decks. With releases on Dirtybird and Relief Records, he is a familiar name to tech house fans around the world. And now the Escuadrón EP featuring Mike Mcfly and friends is out on House of Hustle. McFly’s collaboration with Christian Zanette and Luca Bazzo of the Italian tech house duo Feel Flow stands out in particular. ‘Coke’ is a bass heavy club hit paying homage to the original recipe of one of the world’s favorite soft drinks.
Relying heavily on the vocal hook “Let Me Drink My Coke,” this track also delivers impressive instrumentation. A chunky bass line forms the foundation upon which McFly and Feel Flow build a techno-influenced high and mid range. With the addition of an addictive high hat and technically precise one off psychedelic samples, ‘Coke’ occupies a unique and intriguing place between specific genres. If that wasn’t trippy enough, the vocals describe the original Coca-Cola: “it’s pretty much all natural, it’s very refreshing, it’s the original energy drink.” It even goes so far to mention that “fluid extract of the cocoa leaf was part of the original recipe.”, and we all know what the “fluid extract of the cocoa leaf is…” Well you get the idea.
